Patient: How do I know if I have chronic inflammation?

My response: Great question. You know based on the symptoms you are experiencing and your physical examination.

I will like to discuss the signs and symptoms of chronic inflammation on this #WellnessWednesday

Unfortunately, chronic inflammation is the root cause of several diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer's, fatty liver disease, and the list goes on and on.

While short-term acute inflammation is characterized by redness, swelling, and localized pain, chronic inflammation is often subtler and might take longer to manifest.

Chronic inflammation causes a plethora of hormonal imbalance leading to symptoms such as
👉🏼 High blood sugar
👉🏼 Body and joint aches
👉🏼 Low energy/fatigue despite quality sleep
👉🏼 Persistent digestive issues: bloating, abdominal pain, constipation, etc
👉🏼Brain fog or inability to focus
👉🏼 Inability to lose weight

🚫Sugar & Artificial Sweeteners: It causes an overproduction of inflammatory cytokines increasing your risk of insulin resistance, high blood sugar levels, excess fat storage (especially around the belly), and cortisol.
🚫Trans Fats: Partially hydrogenated oils commonly found in processed and packaged foods. These fats are highly inflammatory and can increase your risk of high cholesterol, heart disease, and strokes.
🚫Refined Carbohydrates: All their water, fiber and nutrients stripped away during food processing and unfortunately replaced with chemicals and more sugar.
🚫Processed Meat & Farm-Raised Seafood: These causes inflammation and disruption to the gut due to the amount of growth hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, and toxic pesticides.
